Abstract:This editorial note revisits Clegg’s song, “I am seating on the top of Kilimanjaro”, and Mandela’s dream of the “rain-bow nation” to suggest that the affirmation of one’s identity is a sure ground for the regional integration and one’s contribution to its humanisation. The result of this dynamics cannot be the kind of limited world premised on the dogma of the market and in which human relationships are thought of in terms of selling and buying only. It is an integration that takes seriously the individual and the social nature of the human being. Seen from this point of view, the regional integration should be the starting point of a rain-bow world and the civilisation of the universal. It is within this framework that the various articles in this issue should be read and understood.
